    ESports Arena Las Vegas Luxor

My visit to the Esports Arena at Luxor brought back so much memories of when I used to play Counter Strike as a kid.  When I was younger, PC “Bang”s were everywhere, and everyone was busy playing Counter Strike.  You would walk in, and hear “Fire in the hole”, along with gun sounds and people telling each other where to go.  The scene is a little different now, but it was cool watching people playing Fortnite and PUBG.

The ESports Arena was a lot better than what I had expected.  You can play PC, Playstation, or XBOX games, and there is a separate competition area for events.  I knew that Fortnite and PUBG are super popular right now, however I didn’t see a single person playing anything else.  I honestly thought I would see at least 1 person playing Forza Horizon 4, or Madden 19 or even Halo.  They even have a lounge area where you can watch current games or even sports.  There was 1 bar open downstairs, and another one upstairs which only opens during events I think.

The ESports Arena is free to visit, however if you would like to hop on a station and start playing, they charge $10 a hour.  Las Vegas residents get 2 hours for $10.

No entry fee during standard operating hours. Participation in video game play or other arena amenities available for purchase.

The night that I was there it looked like they were preparing for Saturday Night Speedway.  It looks like this is some sort of a Mario Kart tournament.  If I knew ahead of time, I probably would have practiced a little and signed up for the event.  I probably would have done horrible, because I know people play religiously now, but I think it still would have been fun.

After the whole Counter Strike era, Starcraft, Diablo, World of Warcraft, Halo all kept the gaming community going, however meeting up in a place like this to play each other on a local LAN network kind of died out for a number of reasons.  Most people’s computers weren’t fast enough, internet speeds were not as fast, and the whole online gaming experience wasn’t as good as it is now.  Even gaming on a Mobile device is really advanced now.

Regardless, I am really happy that we have the ESports Arena in Las Vegas now.  Once you walk in the main entrance of the Luxor Hotel, you can easily get to the Esports Arena without going through too much smoke and exposure to the casino, for the younger age group.  Not only will I be coming here again, I am going to keep my eye out for the next major event, and try to go as a spectator.
