King of my Heart – John Mark Mcmillan Live at the Knight

 

There are a lot of inspirational songs that I listen to regularly, however I realized lately that I tend to go to “King of my Heart” a lot whenever I need a small reminder of how good God is.

I was born into a Christian family, and always thought of myself as someone who is close to God. As I got older, I had my ups and downs when it came to my walk with Christ, until I got so distant from God that I was somewhat ashamed to call myself a Christian.

My best friend since High School, Patrick is someone who influenced me since we were younger. I can say without a doubt, that I probably wouldn’t be the person I am today if I never met Patrick. That’s how much he influenced me. A lot of the way I talk, dress, my hobbies, even the way I think, came from my buddy Patrick. Although we are the same age, he is kind of like a older brother to me.

When Patrick started going to Saddleback church, and started to turn back to God, of course he didn’t go alone. He made sure I turned back to God too. Although by this time I moved away from L.A to Las Vegas, he still made sure that he got his point across to me and helped me turn back to God……from 300 miles away.

When I go to L.A to visit, we would go to Saddleback together where eventually I got baptized and probably have a stronger relationship with God than I ever did before. I remember one of the instances before going to church, Patrick had this song “King of my Heart” on repeat. He kept playing it over and over again, and singing it. Coincidentally, that day at church, Pastor Rick Warren actually said we are going to sing a song that we didn’t sing in a while…and “King of my Heart” came on again. Since then this has been my go to song whenever I am lost, in need of assurance, or just feel like praising God.
