Forza Horizon 4 on PC (Low End Gaming PC, still better than Xbox One S)

A lot of people including myself were worried about running Forza Horzion 4 on PC. Forza fans have had their share of issues with Forza Horizon 3 and Forza Motorsports 7 on PC. The Microsoft store shows some high recommendations for this game too.

We are running what would be considered a low end gaming rig at the moment, and to our surprise our PC handled the game with no problems at all.

Our current setup consists of –

    Intel i5 3470 CPU @ 3.20 GHZ | GeForce GTX 1050ti 4GB GPU | 16GB DDR3 Ram | 120GB SSD + 1TB HDD |

    The Microsoft Store reccommends –

    Intel i7 3820 @ 3.60 GHZ | GeForce GTX 1060 3GB | 12GB Ram

    The Microsoft Store MINIMUM –

    Intel i3 4170 @ 3.7 GHZ or Intel i5 750 @ 2.67 GHZ | Nvidia 650TI | 8GB Ram

You can see why so many people with low to mid grade gaming PC’s are hesitant to try running this game. To our surprise, our PC runs Forza Horizon 4 at Ultra Detail Settings & 60 FPS without any issues. The GPU usage is at a constant 99% which worries me a little, but I haven’t had any problems even with long playing times. Sometimes I run the game at 60FPS with High detail, or even 30FPS and Ultra detail. Even then the detail and smoothness on the PC is much better than the XBOX One S, which runs at a constant 30 FPS.

Another thing that I love about playing on the PC instead of the XBOX, is how fast you can navigate through the menus on this game. There is virtually no lag when navigating through the Forza menu’s when playing on the PC. This is especially good for people who use the Auction in this game a lot. And also for people who like to make their own car designs.

Another reason people want to play on the PC instead of a console, is the ever so popular Triple Monitor gaming setup.

We don’t have a triple monitor setup ourselves. This setup belongs to one of our buddies, Ezzy. He is running a very similar PC setup as we are (AMD FX8300, GeForce GTX 1050ti 4GB). His setup requires a little more power since he needs to power 3 monitors, however it can handle the game a lot better than expected. We are both planning on upgrading our video cards to a 1060 6GB soon.

Personally, I am very old school, and I prefer my keyboard and mouse for gaming. A lot of people these days like a control pad better. Windows 10 and the Xbox One control pad go hand in hand. Once you plug in your Xbox One Control pad to your Windows 10 PC, Forza is already setup to work with the controller. You don’t need any special setup or driver downloads.

What about the Xbox One X you ask? The Xbox One X lets you choose between 2 different modes for this game. You can either pick a 60FPS 1080p Performance Mode, or a 4K 30FPS Quality Mode. Both modes, look and perform great. But with the detail and as great as this game is made to look, even on the original Xbox One, 60 FPS is in my opinion the best way play this game, whether on Xbox One X or PC.
