Cold Brew Coffee – Easy Instructions – So Far So Good with GERD

As stated in my video below, about a year ago I had a really bad scare when my body broke down on me and I had to go to the emergency room.  Turns out I have GERD and Chronic Migraines, which I never knew about before.  First thing the doctor made me do is quit smoking, drinking, and coffee.  Surprisingly, quitting coffee was harder than quitting smoking or drinking.  However, since I had to take care of my body, I stopped drinking coffee for almost a year.  After a while, seeing or smelling coffee was torture.  Again, seeing or smelling cigarettes or alcohol wasn’t that tough.

One day I came across an article that said that  Cold Brew coffee is about 70% less acidic than regular coffee.  So I started to play around with different cold brew methods, different brands of bottled cold brew, and tried ordering cold brew from different coffee shops.  Cold brew is available almost everywhere now, and became popular really fast.  So I decided to share the cold brew method that was easiest for me, and tastes good.

For starters, A lot of people use dark roast coffee, but I like medium roast better.  I get 6 spoons of coffee, and add COLD water to the 6 spoons into a 1 liter bottle.  You put the bottle inside your refrigerator for 24 hours.  After 24 hours, you pour the coffee out into a coffee filter paper, and voila!

Now for the important part.  A lot of people ask me, isn’t cold brew really strong and bitter?  It can be, if you drink it just like that.  I have heard of people doing a 10 to 1 mix, or even a 8 to 1 mix of water to cold brew.  For me, I normally put maybe 20% (3 oz or so) of cold brew, and put ice and water in a 20 oz tumbler, and carry that out with me every morning.  Please view my video for a better explanation.

So does this mean that cold brew coffee is ok for people who have GERD or Acid Reflux?  Honestly, I do not have an answer for that.  I do know that cold brew coffee is much less acidic than regular coffee, and for me it doesn’t seem to be hurting me at all.  It’s been about 3 months now of drinking 1-2 cups of coffee daily.  I wouldn’t recommend drinking too much though, as although it is cold brew, it still has caffeine, which is known to be bad for people with GERD and acid reflux.  I will definitely update this post if there are any changes.  D.I
