Acqua Di Parma Razor and Shaving Cream – Phillips Sonicare – Bulgari BLV

A lot of my friends and family who have been to my house ask about my Acqua Di Parma razor whenever they use my restroom.  They also ask a lot about my Philips sonicare toothbrush, so I decided to do a review on them.

Made in Italy, the handle combines the finest wenge wood and burnished brass with a unique and ergonomic design to sit perfectly in your hand. With expertly balanced weight distribution to ensure a firm, steady grip for a smooth, close shave.  (Brummels of London)

The innovative arched shape of the Acqua di Parma Collezione Barbiere Shaving Razor, with an asymmetrical cross-section and balanced distribution of weight at the base of the handle guarantee a firm, steady grip for a safe, close shave. (feelunique.com)

Acqua di Parma combines its distinguished heritage of artisan craftsmanship with the expertise of master Italian barbers to redefine grooming rituals for the modern gentleman. Ideal for thicker beards and those who prefer traditional shaving methods.

The rich texture instantly creates a luxurious foam when mixed with a shaving brush and hot water. Organic pomegranate, lemon and basil extracts protect skin from razor irritation and ensure a consistently superior shave. Hyaluronic acid provides anti-aging benefits. Unscented. (neimanmarcus.com)

When we purchased the Acqua Di Parma razor (around $400.00) , I got it with the Acqua Di Parma shaving cream (Around $80), and a Pre-Shave Oil from The Art of Shaving (Around $20).  I think this is as good as it can get when it comes to shaving.  The shaving cream is really good for people with sensitive skin like me.  The razor also comes with a stand that gives it a extra nice touch.  Acqua Di Parma says to use the Gillette Proglide refills, however its not completely necessary.  I am actually using mine with Gillette Mach 3 refills at the moment.

Next comes the Philips Sonicare toothbrush.  I bought the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean (Around $225).  This one comes with a travel case, which can charge your toothbrush, and also the Philips cup, which you can also use to charge your toothbrush.

Featuring clean, white, polish, gum care and sensitive brushing modes.

I brush once in the morning with my Philips Sonicare, and once at night with a regular toothbrush.  It definitely feels much cleaner and fresher after I brush with my Philips Sonicare.  Works and built very well.  Ok, one thing I strongly recommend though, is buy your replacement heads directly from Philips, or an authorized Philips re-seller.  The ones they sell on Amazon, are not the same.  I really think Amazon and/or Philips should step up and do something about this.  They look the same, say Philips on them, but definitely not the same and cheaper…..its not rocket science to figure out the equation is it?

And then its the Bulgari Blu (BLV).  I’ve been using Bulgari Blu Cologne and After Shave Emulsion pretty much since it came out it 2001.  I have been attached to other fragrances before (Hugo, Eternity, Kenzo, Issey Miyaki) however this is the one that I always look for and come back to.  I never seem to get sick of this scent.

So to conclude my review, I highly recommend the sonicare toothbrush.  It doesn’t necessarily have to be the diamondclean.  I bought my mom and sister the regular sonicare 2 pack bundle (Around $100) which may not have the travel pack and what nots, but still works great, and they love it too.  The Acqua Di Parma razor, is something I love, and I know a lot of people will too, but its not for everyone.  Especially with a $400 price tag, its more of a luxury item.  As I’ve mentioned before, the Acqua Di Parma razor uses Gillette blades, so I can’t say that you will have a better shave than a regular Gillette Proglide razor which will run you about $10.  Of course the quality and build of a regular Gillette, versus my Italian crafted Acqua Di Parma cannot be compared, so again, its more of a luxury item.  For me, every morning I see it, I know that it’s MY razor, and it will be for years to come!
