Lotus of Siam – Best of Las Vegas – Definitely worth the wait

Let me start by stating that this is probably the best restaurant I have been to in years. It’s funny because I recommended this place to people for years, based on what I have heard and the feedback I got from people, yet I never made time to try this place myself. Don’t get me wrong, when I recommended this place to people, I told them that I haven’t been yet, but this is what I have heard about this place.

This place really is ALWAYS busy. When we called to make reservations, they didn’t have any openings for over a month. Luckily my sister was able to get us a reservation for right when they open for dinner at 5:30 pm. You only have a 5 minute window for your reservation time, so make sure you get there early. We got there an hour before open, and there was already a small line. By the time they opened, there was roughly 30-40 people waiting in line already. Since none of the people who were waiting in line had a reservation, they had to wait in the bar area to actually get seated as you can see in the picture above.

Once inside, the staff was very friendly and well trained. We were seated right away in the area pictured above, however there are other seating areas as well. With the wave of people that came in when we did, we wanted to sit and order right away. We also researched what we wanted to try before hand, so we knew what we were going to order already.

We started with the Sa-Tay Chicken for our appetizer. As soon as I took the first bite of the chicken, I knew I was going to love the other dishes too. The seasoning, the sauce, how well it was cooked, couldn’t have been any better. Of course this was just our appetizer, but our main dishes were even better.

We ordered what most people order when they come here. The Garlic Prawns, Pad Thai, and Pad Se-Ew. We also added an order of the Crab Fried rice too. Everything we ordered was just delicious. I can’t think of any better way to put it. The quality and taste of the food here is far better than restaurants that cost twice as much. As stated before, there is a reason why this place is always full.

It seemed like every table had the Garlic Prawns, or a Prawn plate of some type. They were cooked to perfection, and 1 order was enough for our table of 4 to eat 2 or 3 prawns each. The Pad Se-Ew was one of the best we’ve ever had. The Pad Thai was good too, but the other dishes were so good, the Pad Thai fell behind a little.

The crab fried rice complimented our other dishes very well too. The portions seemed slightly small when they got to our table, however 4 hungry adults were full by the time we were done. I don’t want to sound like everything was just perfect here, but even the portions were the perfect amount. We were all full, but not too full where we didn’t feel like doing anything afterwards.

The Lotus of Siam that we went to on Flamingo is actually the 2nd location. The original location located in the commercial center is closed for re-modeling at the moment. I heard that a 3rd location may open too, but is not confirmed. If you have not been here yet, you have to give it a try. I can’t think of a single thing that I didn’t like about this place, Especially when I don’t really like places that are over-crowded and/or have long lines. I can’t wait to go again and try some of the other dishes! I think Zagat gave Lotus of Siam 4.5 out of 5 stars. I give Lotus of Siam 5 out of 5 stars!
