    Retro Games – Nintendo Wii – Wii U – Nintendo 3DS – Mario Kart

As much as I enjoy playing Forza Horizon, Rory Mcilroy Golf, and the occasional Madden,  I have to say I like my old systems and old games better.  Am I getting old?  Are these new systems getting too complicated?  Or maybe familiarity?  Who knows, however lately I have run into a lot of people like myself.

I’ve always loved car games and golf games.  Street Fighter 2 and Counter Strike were mandatory to be good at when we were growing up.  But even now, I always make time to play Mario Kart.  Sometimes when I get a feel for it, I’ll play SNES Super Mario World, or Donkey Kong Country real fast.  Or when I want to step it up a bit, Zelda Ocarina of Time, or Majora’s Mask to name a few classics.  Smash Bros, or Mario Party is always fun to play when you have people over……Donkey Kong (Most of them), Tiger Wood’s Golf, Hot Shots Golf, Need for Speed (Most of them) all great titles that I go back to every once in a while…..but again, the one that does it for me is Mario Kart.

I still remember playing Mario Kart for hours after hours with my neighborhood friends when it first came out for Super Nintendo.  Not only was racing each other fun, battle mode was probably the first of its kind.  We would have like 7 or 8 people, waiting for one battle to end, so that the next player can step in.

Mario Kart has come a long way from Super Nintendo.  From switching on Double Dash on the Game Cube, to the handheld systems and drifting, to Mario Kart 8 now, which is so action packed now, great graphics, and even has Mercedes Benz vehicles featured in the game.

You can view 2 videos below….1 of which is Mario Kart WII, and the next one will be Mario Kart 8, and you will notice how much better Mario Kart is now,.

One a side note, for people who don’t have hdmi on their wii

I got the wii to hdmi adapter for like $12 on amazon. This adapter makes a huge difference for people who still play their wii’s like me, on a modern hdtv. At first I was a little iffy about buying one, because after all the wii wasnt really made for high def, but after trying it out, it is definitely worth getting. Especially makes a big difference on the gamecube games I run through wii.

One game that I actually just started to play because of a close friends recommendation, is Assassin’s Creed.  Of course he showed me Assassin’s Creed Origins, which caught my attention right away, but also he made me start from Assassin’s Creed 1 so that I will know the whole story line.  So far, I like the game a lot.  It gets a little repetitive at times, but it’s pretty awesome nonetheless.

One of these days, I really want to try the real life Mario Kart tour.  Yes, that is correct, in Japan they have a real life Mario Kart tour where you dress up, and drive karts on the streets of Japan.  They even provide the costumes, and a 2 hour tour was about $80 the last time I checked.  I dont know what will be more fun, the Mario Kart real life tour, or the Mario Kart VR, which is only going to be in Japan.  Maybe both plus a tour of the Nintendo Museum?  D.I
